This article tells how to dive down in the water with a snorkel, and how to breathe in a snorkel before you dive down.
The first thing you want to think about is to have the snorkel position the right way. When you land with your face paint pointing straight down, you should make sure the snorkel is pointing straight up.
If your snorkel is pointing too much forward or too much backward, you might experience getting water into snorkel when you’re breathing in and that’s not pleasant.
Secondly, make sure to take the snorkel out of your mouth before you start diving down. This is to make sure that you don’t by accident tilt your head forward to dive down while breathing in. So make sure take out the snorkel first.
If you’re just planning to use the snorkel for snorkeling without swimming down in the water, then you don’t have to worry about this. Before your diving down you want to be as relaxed as possible. This is how you can hold your breath longer when you’re diving down.
You can either lie on the pool side and relax before your dive. If you’re diving in the pool, if you’re in the ocean that’s probably not a possibility, so then you will lay on your stomach and breathe through the snorkel.
Just relax for a couple of minutes. And when you’re ready you take the snorkel out of your mouth. You put your feet out of the water, you pull yourself down with the arms and then you start clicking with your feet.
There’s no use kicking with the feet before you are underwater with them. So when you stick your feet out of the water, keep them still until they’re underwater well you’ve just wasting energy.
